Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 14, 2026
Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy describes how Richmond Consignment (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information when you use our website, request a pickup, communicate with us, or use the consignor portal. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our services or submit information through our site.
Information we collect
Pickup requests (public website form)
When you request a home pickup, we collect the information you enter: your name, phone number, email address, street address (line and city/ZIP), optional notes about items, and optional preferences for when to contact you. We store this information in our business systems and may email a copy to our operations inbox so we can respond and schedule service.
Consignor accounts and portal activity
If you become a consignor, we create an account tied to secure authentication provided by our vendor (Supabase). That process typically involves your email address and authentication metadata managed by the vendor. In our application database we may store a display name, phone number, payout-related details you provide (for example a Venmo username and limited payout verification information), and operational notes needed to run consignment.
Consignment operations data
To operate consignment, we process information about pickups (including addresses you provide for service), inventory items (descriptions, condition, pricing, status, internal identifiers), marketplace listings (channels, listing URLs, listing status), sales records (including amounts, fees, and settlement-related fields used to calculate payouts), and payout batches (totals, timing, payment method labels, and references that help confirm payment). Some of this information appears on third-party marketplaces when items are listed for sale.
Website usage and technical data
Like most websites, our hosting environment and vendors may automatically log technical information such as IP address, device/browser type, and timestamps when you load pages or submit forms. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns (for example page views and when a pickup request form is successfully submitted). These tools are separate services; Google’s processing is described in Google’s Privacy Policy. We use analytics to improve the site and measure interest in our services—not to sell your personal information.
How we use information
- To respond to pickup requests, schedule pickups, and coordinate consignment service in the Richmond, VA area and nearby communities we serve.
- To authenticate consignors, operate the consignor portal, and enforce role-based access for staff versus consignors.
- To photograph, describe, price, list, sell, ship, reconcile, and support items across marketplaces, including calculating fees and preparing payouts.
- To send operational emails related to your account or service (for example notifications sent through our email provider).
- To maintain security, troubleshoot issues, prevent fraud or abuse, and improve reliability of our website and internal tools.
- To comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our agreements.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the business, including with:
- Service providers that host our website and database, provide authentication, deliver transactional email, and provide analytics—in each case under agreements that limit their use of data to providing services to us.
- Marketplaces and shipping partners when listing, selling, and fulfilling orders, which requires sharing item details and operational data as those platforms require.
- Payment and payout channels you select or that we use to pay you, which are governed by those providers’ terms and privacy policies.
- Professional advisors (for example attorneys or accountants) where appropriate and subject to confidentiality obligations.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose information if we believe in good faith it is required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide services, meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Lead and consignment records may be retained for a multi-year period consistent with operational and compliance needs. If you have questions about deletion timelines for a specific category of data, contact us using the information below.
Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To submit a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding. If you are a consignor, some information can be reviewed or updated through the portal where that functionality is available.
Children’s privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Third-party sites
Our website may link to third-party marketplaces or tools. This policy does not apply to those services. Review their privacy policies before providing information to them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice as appropriate (for example, a notice on our website or an email to consignors).
